Density of cement

Cement is a binding material used in the construction works. It is used as a binder in mortar and concrete. Density is the ratio of mass per unit volume(i.e. Density=mass/volume). There is a different value of density for different materials and the density of cement is 1440 kg/m3  (89.8 lb/ft3).  Density is an important factor to determine either mass or volume.

  • Suppose, the volume of cement is 1 mand we have to determine the mass.

                                                            solution,

       Volume of cement = 1 m

      Density of cement = 1440 kg/m3

         Using formula,

       Mass (m) = volume * density

                            =  1440 kg

From above, we can conclude that in 1 cubic volume of cement; there is 1440 kg of cement. 

Similarly, the density of cement mortar is 2080Kg/m3  ( 129.8 lb/ft3

The value of density is found for materials, not quantities. So different materials have their own density. The density of 59 materials used in the construction are :
